Excellent seafront location overlooking prom, within easy walking distance of Pier, gardens, shops, and bus routes to Beachy Head and South Downs. Specifically booked a seaview room, and was definitely not disappointed - very comfortable first floor room with large windows looking right onto beach. Fridge in room was an added bonus. Although the hotel is busy with coach parties, the restaurant staff still provided excellent service to a solo traveller, and ensured I was allocated the same table for breakfast for the duration of my stay.
My single room with a sea view was nice, I enjoyed the Jacuzzi bath and made good use of the fridge provided the the room. Breakfast was good.
Unfortunately my front door handle came off and it took 2-3min to open the (faulty) door with a slide card system. The windows were very stiff to close, just needed some DW40, and I had damp from the ceiling in bathroom, which needed repair. A general repair all round I think is lacking, apart from that I enjoyed my stay.
Staff generally very helpful and polite, from Reception and Dining Room to Housekeeping.
Surprised at 'pay on arrival' system for a prestigious hotel. Tends to make guests feel like criminals. Or maybe some are!
staff were very helpful and room was a good size and clean and the hotel is in a fantastic location.
the food was pretty awful.
Bathroom and bedroom extremely small . Bed very hard. Had better breakfasts in much cheaper hotels.Too many vases of silk flowers . everywhere . Very overpriced.
We had a sea view room on 3rd floor, room and bathroom good size and clean. Other than bath and tv room rather dated, must have missed this one on refurb. Breakfast good.
We stayed on Sat night end of July No Food and Bar Closed, very disappointed
I regret to say that because my stay was for only one night I was made to feel that I didnt matter, so unfortunately my experience was not very good.
I requested dinner but was told it was full. This is not acceptable for a paying guest.
the location is brilliant, and the price is quite attractive, it is not easy to find such a good hotel in other area.
I liked the location. The sea view rooms were excellent. The breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly. It was a very quiet Hotel with nothing going on. Perfect for my elderly relatives. As we had trouble booking a bed for our 12 year old and we had to contact the Hotel they very kindly let her stay for free in one of our rooms. On the whole there were 8 people in our group and we all said we would go back again. The rooms were very clean.
We booked a carvery in the Hotel. We were very disappointed. Very little choice. Only pork and a turkey escalope which tasted like it came from the supermarket. It was horrible. They had only 2 choices of vegetable, brocoli (which were mushy) and carrots. There was fish also. No salad available. This dinner let the Hotel down. So definitely wouldn't book a meal at the Hotel. Also another disappointment was even though entertainment was advertised on some days, (Hotel should stipulate which days) we went on a Saturday night in August and there wasn't any.
Clean, good breakfast, convenient location and comfy bed
Did not find the hotel staff at all helpful and sometimes came across as rude in their attitude. Wifi did not allow me to connect to the Internet on either my iPhone or my netbook
We were at mansion lions Hotel as they said Albany was not available. This was after you confirmed the Albany was free!!! Food was lovely Hotel was lovely and big Room was nice and clean
No bar open as were told not enough residents to warrent opening it - were told we could go to the one on the corner - not so easy as my husband is disabled! No evening meal - same reason as above. First receptionist we saw on arrival on 31st oct very unhelpful and difficult to understand- said if we didnt like it we c ould complain!! Having booked on line looking at all the facilities we were upset on arrival to not have them available.
The breakfast !
Tepid to luke warm water only in our room. Very tired and run down looking inside. Needs gutting and bringing up to date. Surley receptionist. Bed quite hard. Not a lot going for it really other than the breakfast.
Albany lions is very nice hotel. Beach sea side is very near. Nice friendly staff. Only breakfast maybe must must change on very options. Many peoples visiting in this hotel. So, I mean breakfast is must be continental. Not only english breakfast.
i liked the location of the hotel as it was on the seafront and pier and near to town centre ,restaurant staff very helpful, breakfast very good.
the welcome from reception very indifferent need training.i resented having to pay for my stay before i was given room key, etc.yhe room was pokey not as shown on booking photos, poor decoraton, gaps in room door a cild must have fitted it,cobwebs hanging in room pigeons landing on balcony not good as we had to sleep with windows open outside temp 32deg.tv very poor.fan not working in bathroom, spotlight over sink out, wardrobe space poor doors did not close and had no catches,I think the owner would do better to spend his money on the hotel instead of toys for himself and son, type R jag,for spinning starts, gold decalled range rover, quite gawdy,he needs ALEX again.
Great sea views, near the bandstand and the pier. Very comfortable room and close street parking. Excellent Full English breakfast.
